Many of us know Wolfgang from his regular tastings in England. Quite a few of us have spent several days of intensive tasting at his Gasthof in Brauneberg. As usual he talked with great passion and enthusiasm. Each wine was presented as the culmination of a year's work in the vineyards and the winery.
For the bad years, his explanations of how he had to fight the ravages of the weather and various infestations gave us a real insight into the experience that is required to continually produce quality wines in the Mosel. For the good years he delighted in letting the wines speak for themselves. Most of the wines we tasted were produced from his best vineyards on the south facing Juffer.
