Meeting 351 -"Independent Vignerons of France"
Friday 17th February 2012: Neville Hall, Waltham St Lawrence

Speaker:  Tony Hill

Julie Graham writes:-

We met Tony Hill from Bordeaux and Beyond for the first time two years ago. His company specializes in seeking out independent, smaller wine growers - hence his suggestion for the title.
We are taking the opportunity to taste two of the wines from the IWFS Berkshire Branch Cellar which we bought from Tony when he came in January 2010 - a Chateau Micalet 2001 and a 2002. Tony is bringing a 2003 so that we can do a vertical tasting of all three. In addition we will taste one white and one clairet, followed by a selection of red wines from their current list. Tony will be accompanied by one of his colleagues, John Green.
We do not have sufficient glasses to give everyone three each for the vertical tasting. For this meeting, could you therefore please bring 3 glasses of your own, per person.

Charlotte will have returned from her idyllic holiday in the Philippines the previous weekend and has kindly offered to make a casserole which I can collect on the Friday. We have agreed that on this occasion dessert will consist of a cheese board, items for which I can source locally. Tony has suggested an Anjou-Villages Brissac, Ch. la Varière, Vieilles Vignes to accompany supper.
The aperitif wine will be a Domi-Moreau Cuvée d'Argent Champagne NV Brut which will be served from 7.00 onwards ready to start the meeting at 7.30. http://www.bordeauxetbeyond.co.uk
